Ride Around Lake Okeechobee
On Saturday April 10th, 2010 we met at Lester's Diner in Margate for a ride around Lake Okeechobee. Alan made sure that everyone was there for breakfast. We waited for Alan as long as we could, but it turns out he thought the ride was for Sunday. Oops.
We all agreed to take a detour to watch the Motor Officers at the annual Police Motorcycle Rodeo in Pompano. As we pulled into the lot Heath noticed a screw in Gail's rear tire. Good thing. We sent them off to the local Harley mechanic who had the tire and tube in stock. We met them after we watched the rodeo and were on our way with Gail tagging along with Bob.
With Gadget in the lead on a borrowed Road Star and Heath bringing up the rear we cruised up 441 through Wellington, west to Pahokee and then North to Okeechobee. Two stops, one in Wellington and another at Port Macaya where you can see the whole lake. We lunched at Lunker's. Bob and Gail left early to get back before the mechanic closed to pick up her bike. The rest of us decided to just return back around the East side of the lake rather than go around the West side. Our guest rider and photographer for the day was Richard Biaggi who lives in Switzerland. He will be in the US for 7 months touring on his Gold Wing.
