Hog Heaven - February 22, 2009
With 20 members and 2 guests on 17 bikes we headed from Everglades Holiday Park down to Islamarada for lunch at Hog Heaven. We took our usual route, 27 South to Krome Avenue into Florida City and then Route 1 from there down into the keys. The formation looked really good all of the way down.
Lunch was at Hog Heaven on the back patio. Everyone had a good time. As we were leaving the manager thanked us for calling ahead so they could prepare for us. Diane had never been before and was impressed. She had always thought that the place was a dive but was surpized by the cleanliness and good service.
We ended the ride in Florida city on the way back so that people could get home by either the Turnpike or back up Krome Avenue. At the gas station a car backed over another riders beuatiful Triumph T100 in the parking lot. This guy was livid! Gadget managed to fit one of the passenger pegs on the front to replace a broken one so the guy could ride home. After he calmed down, he and the driver of the car made nice with some cash.
The ride back on the Turnpike turned out to be a little hectic. We had to stop so Shannon could latch her saddle bag (she was littering the highway with important papers) and further North, William dropped his V-Star when we pulled off the highway to wait for someone. Watching William from behind was scary, fortunately he and the bike aren't hurt very bad and will both recover.
